The First of Spring

Description

I was talking to on AIM a few days ago and she was complaining that in Minnesota spring had not yet arrived. Here in the UK though spring has definitely arrived, leaves are starting to appear on trees, flowers are reaching for the sun, that kind of thing, so I promised her I’d take some pictures to cheer her up a bit (hopefully it won’t seem like I’m rubbing it in her face ;)).

It was also a good opportunity to practice some lighting techniques too. I was reading some tips in a photography book and it was saying that the best times to take landscape or just general “outdoor” pictures was either at dawn or early evening when the light is softest, so I decided to give it a go. I probably spent an hour or so wandering around taking shots like this which was really nice and relaxing. Most of them were not that great but there were a few good one and I’ll be posting those here. Be prepared for a lot of flower close-ups! :D This one is Pear tree blossom (I think this is the Pear tree anyway).

The other thing that I should note is that I edited the picture a little because it had a strange green tint to it which was a bit annoying. My brother reckons I should have edited it even more to make it even lighter but I thought I’d submit it like this (it seems more artistic somehow :)). But if I get enough criticism about it though I may well resubmit it so if you feel that there could be improvement then please say so. A bit of constructive criticism goes a long way! ^^ Enjoy!
