Well guys, it's been a month since my trip to Bath and I think it is about time that I gave you all an update about what went on and how I've been since.

The trip didn't start to well, mainly because of the train service. Normally the journey from Norwich to London (I had to transfer from London to Bath) takes about 3 hours and uses 7 or 8 carriages but there was a problem with the normal service (not sure exactly what it was but something about a door falling off :o). It got in about 40 minutes late and I was very close to missing the connection to Bath. A very close call indeed!
Apart from that it was a really great trip, not only because I was able to visit a really nice part of the country but also (and more importantly really) the treatment was incredibly helpful. It was spread over three days and basically consisted of a mixture of group therapy, problem solving and hypnosis. The group was small, only three other people plus the therapist, which seemed like a good number. Anymore would have made it a bit awkward and I doubt that we would have accomplished as much as we did. All of us had M.E in one form or another and for varying degrees of time and that really helped things along. One of the interesting things about it was that we never really talked about our past problems much. The course was much more focused on looking forward, thinking about what we wanted to do in our lives and conquering the various fears and problems that we had that were stopping us. Right off the bat we were given of series of steps that we were supposed to use if anything negative came into our minds. It was only when I started using that process that I really started to realise how many negative thoughts there were floating around my head. I knew that they were there but not in that quantity. It was a real eye opener.
The affects of the treatment were immediate. After the first session we all went out to a local bar and had a nice evening; had a drink, talked, laughed and just generally had a good time. That was something that none of us had done for a long time and we were all a bit nervous about it but we persevered, used the process and did it! It was a great feeling, even to do something as simple as that! :)
The next sessions were much of the same, simply building on what we had already learned and continued to improve. We were all given tasks to do to put the process into practice and experience it in the flesh (as it were =P). Much of it was still quite simple things, stuff that most people wouldn't give a second thought to, but for people like us were pretty major tasks. By the end of the treatment I was feeling much more confidant, much more energetic and just generally happier. It was great being in a group too. Originally I was just going to have a one on one with the therapist, but she talked me into being part of a group and for that I thank her. It was really useful watching and listen to the others and seeing how they were doing and interacting with them. In the end it was much more worth while.
And as for Bath, I was really impressed with it. Not only was it a fascinating and beautiful city but the people were so friendly. Even the Chav's seemed nice! Some of them even went out of their way to show me where the bar was (I got hopelessly lost ^^;). They didn't mug me or anything! That was probably the most surprising bit of the trip actually! :D Even in that short time Bath really grew on me and I loved just walking around and soaking up the atmosphere. It is now one of my favourite cities in the UK. :) Actually, one of the things that I thought helped most was being in Bath. If I had had the treatment closer to home I doubt that I would have moved on as much as I did, simply because I had to put myself into situations and locations that I was not used to. If I had done it locally I probably would have just gone to places that I recognised and felt comfortable in, which would not have been that helpful.

So, where does all of that leave me? What have I been doing since then and what is planned for the future? Well, since Bath I have been pretty busy. In the last month I have driven more than I did the WHOLE of last year, including test driving some new cars, I've been able to work much longer and more effectively on my Open Uni course and I've been able to go out and not worry about the consequences. The other major thing is that I have just joined a gym, something that has been long over due. Being inactive for over seven years is not good for anyone's fitness level and mine really needs to be improved. I've had an evaluation done and been given a regime to follow which is great! Having that sort of guidance and expertise behind you is really useful and much better than simply going there and not having much of a clue. I'm planning go there at least twice a week for the moment and I'll be evaluated again in a few weeks to see how I'm getting on. All of this really feels like a huge step in the right direction and it can only get better from here. I'll fill you in when anything new and interesting comes up.
I think that's it. I'll keep submitting some photos over the next few weeks and attempt to keep more up to date with my inbox (it's not to bad at the moment but it could be better ;)). Also, I'm going to start using my Live Journal Account a bit more (I think the last entry was about five or six months ago ^^;) and I'll post a link on here then I update it. I'll keep the more random entries there I think. :)

I'll just give a quick shout out to one of the guys on the course who is actually a Deviant as well! I nice bit of coincidence spotting there! ^^ :iconkung-fu-guy: Hope you are doing okay mate! Best of luck with everything! :) Oh, and here are the links about the treatment: this was the place I went to www.hypnotherapy-bath.co.uk/ and this is the main site www.lightningprocess.com . Take a look. It's pretty interesting.

Okay then. Thanks for reading and take care! Wish me luck for the future too! My life has started again! n__n

I'm trying to raise awareness about M.E (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis). It is an illness that goes almost unnoticed by most governments and needs to be taken more seriously. I’ve had it for seven years and as I am now on the mend I feel I need to help the less fortunate. For more information please go to www.afme.org.uk. Thank you. :glomp:

Ok so I finally had the chance to read the who journal and I am so happy for you. The treatment sounds like it really did a great job. I think group therapy is one of the best ways to solve a slew of problems and I am so happy that it worked for you. As for being in a different city I am shure that did wonders for you as well. Isn't it fun to wanter around a foreign city and get a bit lost! Anyhow it sounds like you had a great time and I am so happy that you are doing better. I hope your gym membership goes well for you too. Huray for being fit! So anyhow heres to you and a start of a fresh chapter in your life (raises a soda bottle :cheers)
