I’m lucky to have quite a collection of apple trees in the garden - eaters and cookers - so as it was a nice day I thought I go out and try to take a decent close up. I’ll leave you to decide if I succeeded. :) As I have only really just figured out how to use the close up setting on the camera I thought I’d give it a go. I was pretty pleased with the end result, especially as my only other attempt at close ups failed dismally (you won’t have thought that getting a shot of a flower would be difficult would you :sarcasm:). Let me know what you think! :) Yay for advance critique! ^^

Great depth and shadows, the picture looks good but (this is kinda biased, sorry ^^;) the subject of the shot is kinda un-pretty: brown flowers, dry apples and branches.
Then again, it is about autumn, so yeah...

On an unrelated note, it reminds me of this photograph [link]

That's fair enough. I kind of like all of those imperfections really. It shows that nature is not always perfect and that there is beauty in all stages of life, even if everything is a bit shrivelled and brown. ^^ That the way I see it anyway. :) I'm glad you like the shot overall though. wow...this is a beaufiul shot. The colors and angle are amazing! I find, though, that the leaf in the top right corner takes attention away from the apple (perhaps it is too much green?)

Well, it is a wonderful shot. :)

Thanks so much! I'm glad you like it. :) Now that I look at it again I suppose that leaf it a little distracting. Thanks for pointing that out. As this is one of my first attempts at close-up photography there are bound to be a few flaws so comments like this are really useful. ^^ Thanks!

Everyone pretty much said exactly what I was thinking XD This is definitely a very lovely shot and I absolutely adore how it turned out. The lighting is great, you can easily move your eyes around it.. and it's an interesting view, too! Man, would I love to have some apple trees growing in my yard as well XD

What an interesting design the apple has as well XD Like a little gold crown on its top. Pyo!

Thanks a lot Lil! :) Glad to like it! I was also very pleased with the way this one came out, especially as I haven't done a whole lot of close up work. It was really rewarding though, so I'll do it again sometime, and the response I got from it was really positive so that's always good. ^^

There are actually about ten apple trees growing in the garden here. Lots of different types too. Not only that but we have pear trees, plums, and even a quince and apricot tree as well (our garden is pretty big ;)). They’re definitely nice things to have in a garden. :nod:
