This is just my small way of paying tribute to a young actor that I admired.
Like a lot of people I was shocked and saddened to hear of the death of the Australian actor Heath Ledger yesterday. At only 28 years old he was a young actor that was just starting to find his stride and show his true abilities as a screen actor. His death is a real lose to the movie world and he will be sorely missed.
I may not have been his biggest fan but I always enjoyed seeing him on-screen, even in his smaller, lesser known parts, such as 2002s The Four Feathers. There was a spark and energy about him that always made his performances engaging and fun to watch. It was after 2005s blockbuster Brokeback Mountain however that he really showed his true colours. He showed that he could act with passion, subtlety, and above all, with heart, and from then on it was obvious that this was a man who had a great future ahead of him. His fame and popularity has been growing ever since, which of course makes his death even more tragic.
Whether it was suicide or simply a tragic accident, it doesnt really matter now; the fact is his death is a terrible waste of young life and talent, and as a movie fan I for one will miss his on-screen presents.
I didn't believe my husband when he told me that 8 hours ago. I started thinking that there must be another Heath Ledger or something, because the actor was too young and amazing!

It is sad, and so young I confess, I didn't know him till now, but the movies where he has played in sounds so familiar to me. A big lose indeed.
R.I.P
Exactly. He was such a promising young actor, and to die at that age just seems like such a waste. Very sad indeed.

I'd heard speculation that his recent role may have lead to his death. Apparently, he had immersed himself so far into the dark, twisted realm of the Joker that he wasn't getting much more than an hour or two of sleep a day and had been taking Ambien which only worked for an hour for him. I don't think it was a suicide, personally, but that's just a my opinion.

I had a very simpler reaction. My brother came in last night with a rather shocked look on his face and told me about it. It took quite a while for it to sink in. We both really liked Heath and to hear that he died so young was just so sad. We will miss him.

It is a very big lose to the movie world to my mind. As I said before, he really started to show his true talent over the last few years and to hear that he had died so young was really shocking. I've been following his career for quite a while now, as my whole family has actually, and we were all really saddened to hear this news. My heart goes out to his family.
