:typerhappy: News

Hello, good people of deviantART!

How are things going? Sorry for the lack of updates recently. Things have been crazy busy around here lately. It seems that my life has been completely consumed by uni work, to the detriment of virtually everything else. It's been a stressful couple of months, but it seems to be paying off, as I'm keeping up a 90% average, so hopefully I'll be able to keep that up. The other major new time sink in my life is work. After a successful interview, I managed to get a job working for Carlton Marsh Nature Reserve, run by Suffolk Wildlife Trust. It's been an interesting and often tiring experience, especially as my main duties have been to supervise school field trips, usually for kids aged between 7-10 years old. No idea how they have so much energy. :dead: It's been great though, and it sounds like there is going to be some research projects coming up there too, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed I'll get into that as well. It would be a nice change of pace.

Suffice it to say, it's been an interesting 6 months but, as I'm sure you can guess, my camera has been neglected once again. It's over there on the other side of the room, staring at me. Not sure what face it's making (you know..... if it had one), but I'm guessing it would be something like this:

Chiyo camera

..............Yeah..................... Sad camera. >___>

Any hoo, moving swiftly along, now that summer is starting I think I'll be out and about with said camera a bit more. With all of the studying I've been doing it would probably be very therapeutic and get a change of scene. Even with the good results, I've been feeling a bit burnt out, so I sure it would do me some good to use my brain for something more creative. As much as I love science, it can be a bit overwhelming at times.

So yes, this is really just journal to get a few things off my chest. Like I said, despite the stresses and strains, the last few months have been a really interesting period of my life, and one that I will help me grow as a person. I just need to find a good balance. Still working on that one.

Oh, and special shout out to those kind people that wished me a Happy Birthday a few days ago! I really appreciated it, especially in light of my inactivity recently. Thanks for sticking with me. You guys rock! :#1:

Catch you later, guys!

:earth: Alcamin :earth:

P.S. If anyone is confused about the camera photo, and are now questioning my sanity.... well, all I can say is that you are probably on to something.

:cuddle: Building Awareness of M.E/CFS

I'm trying to raise awareness about M.E (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis). It is an illness that goes almost unnoticed by most governments and needs to be taken more seriously. I’ve had it for seven years and as I am now on the mend I feel I need to help the less fortunate. For more information please go to www.afme.org.uk. Thank you. :glomp:

P.S Have a look here to learn about my recovery and the treatment that I received: [link]

Tom

Hi guys! Welcome to the gallery!

I’m Tom, a 24 years old Brit for the flat Broadlands of Norfolk, UK. As you can see from my gallery I’m a keen, if rather inexperienced, amateur photographer and have been for the past two years or so. My camera (a Canon EOS 400D) goes with me wherever I go and has been a trusted companion for quite some time. There is still a HUGE amount I still need to learn before I consider myself a true photographer, but that is why I joined dA in the first place, to learn new skills and grow. I’m getting there slowly but surely. :)

What else can I tell you about myself? Well, I’m a Geochemistry and Environmental science student, new school skier, beginner surfer and lover of surf culture, a total game geek, blogger and occasional guitar strummer. I also parshal to films, both good and bad. But most of all, say one thing of the little sparrow Alcamin, say that he loves the natural world and wants to help protect it any way he can! :earth:

Oh! Did I mention geek? Yes? Good. :meow:

Anyway, thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you again very soon. :iconbunchiesplz:

Haha! Okay, fair enough. I take your point. It's obviously a perk of the subscription that allows users to send them for free. I must have missed the fine-print. =P Nice to know that we have that one resolved now. And best of all, it turns out we were both right! It's a win for the both of us! :D

And thank you for the birthday wishes! I really appreciate it! (and thanks for the Llama too ;))
