I may be a photographer at heart but it's always fun trying out new things, especially something community based such as the ol' dA stamps. :)

Themed Features 3 - Father's

Where would we be without our Dad’s? They may get on our nerves on a regular basis and drive us crazy more often than not, but there are few people in this world that are more dependable, wiser, or more loving than the old man back home. When we need advice, comfort, support, or even just a laugh and a good story, he is always there and happy to help out. He is a constant guide through life and when he is gone, one terrible day, it will leave a hole that will never be filled again. Such is the power of his warmth, protection and love.

So in honour of Fathers Day 2009 here is a small selection of pics and quotes, both amusing and poignant, that sum up why we celebrate this day. And to all of the Dad’s out there: have a good one guys, and have a drink on us. You’ve earned it. :ahoy:

P.S. Sorry about the inappropriate mood emote. Apparently dA are having some problems with them. [link]

:bulletgreen:To be a successful father…there’s one absolute rule: when you have a kid, don’t look at it for the first two years.
Ernest Hemingway

:bulletred:One father is more than a hundred Schoolmasters.
George Herbert

:bulletblue:It is much easier to become a father than to be one.
Kent Nerburn

:bulletgreen:My father had a profound influence on me; he was a lunatic.
Spike Milligan

:bulletred:The time not to become a father is 18 years before a war.
E. B. White

:bulletblue:Never raise your hand to your kids. It leaves your groin unprotected.
Unknown

:bulletgreen:I don't care how poor a man is; if he has family, he's rich.
M*A*S*H, Colonel Potter

:bulletred:Oh, the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person, having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all out, just as they are, chaff and grain together, certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and with a breath of kindness blow the rest away.
Dinah Craik

:bulletblue:A man's desire for a son is usually nothing but the wish to duplicate himself in order that such a remarkable pattern may not be lost to the world.
Helen Rowland

:bulletgreen:A man never stands as tall as when he kneels to help a child.
Knights of Pythagoras

:bulletred:It is a wise father that knows his own child.
William Shakespeare

:bulletblue:I cannot think of any need in childhood as strong as the need for a father's protection.
Sigmund Freud

:bulletgreen:When a father gives to his son, both laugh; when a son gives to his father, both cry.
Jewish Proverb

:bulletred:There must always be a struggle between a father and son, while one aims at power and the other at independence.
Samuel Johnson

:bulletblue:By the time a man realizes that maybe his father was right, he usually has a son who thinks he's wrong.
Charles Wadworth

Building Awareness of M.E/CFS

I'm trying to raise awareness about M.E (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis). It is an illness that goes almost unnoticed by most governments and needs to be taken more seriously. I’ve had it for seven years and as I am now on the mend I feel I need to help the less fortunate. For more information please go to [link]. Thank you. :glomp:

P.S Have a look here to learn about my recovery and the treatment that I received: [link]

deviantID

Hi guys! Welcome to the gallery!

I’m Tom, a 23 years old Brit for the flat Broadlands of Norfolk, UK. As you can see from my gallery I’m a keen, if rather inexperienced, amateur photographer and have been for the past two years or so. My camera (a Canon EOS 400D) goes with me wherever I go and has been a trusted companion for quite some time. There is still a HUGE amount I still need to learn before I consider myself a true photographer, but that is why I joined dA in the first place, to learn new skills and grow. I’m getting there slowly but surely.

What else can I tell you about myself? Well, I’m studying Geochemistry and Environmental Science at the University of East Anglia, I’m an avid gamer, total ski-nut, closet bookworm, wannabe film aficionado and general lover of the natural world. Quite a mixed bag really but it all comes together somehow. ^^

Anyway, thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you again very soon. :iconbunchiesplz:
